This
was one of Rectory's stronger teams. I was a little worried that we
might not play well, given the fact that we had been eliminated from
contention by our earlier losses. I needn't have been. We played strongly,
earning our first shutout of the season. Congratulations. We do though,
have much we need to work on. We will take a little break this week,
take it easy in practice, maybe play a few 'Cleveland Cup' games --
basically, 'catch our breath', reload, refocus our efforts, and then
begin the second half of the season with a renewed intensity. All
aboard!
To
give yourself the best possible chance of playing to your potential,
you must prepare for every eventuality. That means practice. Now I
know that very often you 'just don't have the time'. In spite of that,
if you really want to improve, you will have to make the decision,
and then the commitment. There are no shortcuts. You must lay the
proper foundation. -- Seve

Once
you've been around sports long enough, you see how success softens
some performers. To stay on top you have to develop an attitude that
excellence is always defined as wanting to do better. When you understand
what it takes to sustain championship form, then complacency is something
that isn't part of your life. You don't allow it. -- Pat
Riley
