Always
a formidable opponent, The Hill always presents us with one of our
toughest tests. Playing Prep School JV players who are always a little
older can sometimes be a bit intimidating. Deciding to go back to
our 2-2-1 proved a good decision. Our forecheck, while not always
effective, was effective enough to cause several key turnovers and
pin Hill in their own zone for some extended periods of time. Keeping
them in the zone is certainly advantageous for us -- it keeps us from
playing on the whole ice surface. It was nice to see the scoring spread
around a little bit, too. The best though, had to be the discipline
we showed in trying to play our systems, the courage we displayed
in standing up to bigger opponents, and the support shown by all on
the bench. It will take a huge effort on our part to 'fourpeat' this
year as Champions of our Invitational Tournament, but if we play like
we are capable, and if the puck bounces our way a few times, we have
a solid chance. I know too, that to wait for the puck to bounce our
way is accepting defeat. We must MAKE IT bounce our way. I expect
a great effort from all of you this weekend. But, above all, LET'S
HAVE SOME FUN!! This will be one of the best weekends of your lives.
Leave nothing on the ice. You can be all be tired on Monday. No 'woulda',
'shoulda', 'coulda' this weekend! As long as everyone does their best,
I will always be happy. Never forget that.
